HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARIUM - Severe Morning sickness

While nearly 3/4th of all pregnant women have morning sickness, only around 0.5 to 2 percent of them have a severe condition called hyperemesis gravidarium (HG).

Symptoms of Hyperemesis Gravidarium (HG)

i) Severe nausea
ii) Frequent vomiting leading to weight loss, dehydration and deficiency in the necessary body nutrients.
(HG sufferers vomit more 4 times in a day)
iii) Reduced urination
iv) Breathlessness
v) Rapid beating of the heart
vi) Severe headaches
vii) Skin becomes dry and pale.
viii) Dark urine
ix) Reduction in saliva.

Cure for HG

If you, your spouse or your friend or neighbor seems to be suffering from any or all of these symptoms, do visit a doctor immediately. Do not delay. Dehydration is life threatening for the mother and the child. Most doctors prescribe certain medicines to help HG patients cope with their condition. These tablets reduce vomiting and help the patient’s condition to improve. In case of any doubts, do contact your health care practitioner.
